![]() The move is brilliant when charging into battle on an opponent, but doing it into a crowd who see you coming is a way to get yourself fragged.įor those who want to excel in the class, a large amount of stamina and the room to get good at the game is a selling point. ![]() The character jumps into the fight and slams down on the target. One of the attractive elements of the Vanguard is its iconic Leaping Strike ability. For those who get good at fighting in the melee, or can isolate targets for the 1v1, the Vanguard will feel like one of the best classes in Chivalry 2. The class is primarily one of the strongest in the game for putting out damage, though it does have the downside of easily overwhelmed outside of 1v1’s. ![]() The Vanguard is a fast-moving, long-lasting class, with a fairly decent health pool. The Vanguard can fly into battle dealing heavy damage with charged attacks. It certainly seems the weakest of the lot. However, the downside is that a good melee player will be able to spot the incoming ranged weapons and parry them mid-air. The throwing weapon playstyle is nice if it works, especially against charging players and supporting melee players. However, the Pavise Shield gives them away much easier and their reload speed is a pain when melee opponents make their way over.įinally, the Skirmisher fits a weird build. ![]() The next best is the Crossbowman, which offers very unique counters and can pick off specific counters much more easily. It is the primary Archer playstyle that offers the most versatility. All three offer great usability, but overall, the most effective of the lot is the Longbowman. It is really hard to tell which is the best Archer subclass in Chivalry 2. Their ability flatters this playstyle too, with the ability to replenish ammo for both weapons. Either weapon makes decent throwing weapons, with the other usable as melee weapons too. The class makes use of Javelins and throwing axes, and a light shield. Skirmisher – The hybrid Archer with semi-decent melee attributes. Furthermore, their abilities allow them to place a Pavise Shield, which grants mobile cover for tactical deployment on the map. While it has greater range, it drains stamina quicker and loses accuracy the longer the arrow is drawn.Ĭrossbowman – The crossbow fires high damage dealing rounds that provide high blunt damage, which is great against armoured opponents like the Knight., but takes the longest to reload. Longbowman – Equips a Longbow with the ability to place a flaming brazier to ignite arrows for bonus damage. It is easy to see why the Archer seems like one of the best Chivalry 2 Classes. With their weakness set, a bad Archer can look fairly bad, although, a great archer can carry the team. Thirdly, they have low stamina and cannot repeatably spam well-charged arrows. Secondly, an Archer needs some great aim to compensate for player movement and arrow drop off. It is going to take a skilled player to beat a melee opponents with an Archer’s secondary weapon. The first is they pretty much die in a melee, with their low health and stamina. However, there are a few weaknesses to the class or balancing to be aware of. Their main goal is to do moderate damage from afar, picking off enemy archers, or making life difficult for those who want to get in melee. Image via Torn Banner Studios.Īn Archer is the master of ranged combat in Chivalry 2. The Man At Arms Footman is best used for a player who tried the Knight class but could never get used to the slower speed and finds the bandage kit a good replacement for abilities such as the trumpet and banner. The Archer can devastate the battlefield with well-aimed shots. The Knight class has the tackle but not the sprint, and the Knight class will be slower than a Man At Arms but with higher defense. In many aspects, the Man At Arms is the other side of the coin for the Knight class. Not everything is gone the bandage kit remains fully intact as the timed ability. The shield has also effectively taken the item slot, so the spike trap is gone. Man At Arms keeps the sprint but loses the tackle. However, a further glance reveals this is not the only thing traded for the shield. The sword is the new primary weapon, but the secondary follows the same path of being a shorter blade. At first, the only noticeable change is that the Man At Arms has a sword and shield instead of a pole. Man At Arms is unlocked at level 4 for a Footman and is an interesting switch.
